How To Transform Your Vulnerability Into Strength

Bijgewerkt op: 9 sep. 2021

Do you know what the Fight or Flight Syndrome is? When our brain interprets a situation and tells us that we are in danger, we have two choices:

  1. To stand and fight, or

  2. Flee from danger

That is known as the Fight or Flight Syndrome.

What does this have to do with your vulnerability? What does it have to do with what makes you weaker? Well, when you take a good hard look at, feel or listen to your weaknesses, you may perceive fear underlying many of them. And on many occasions, that fear is what makes you flee and opt for the Flight Syndrome. However, there are ways you can overcome fear and even turn what makes you vulnerable into our Biggest Strengths. So how do you do that?

Overcoming Fear

"First of all, don’t be afraid of fear. Fear protects you from danger. It can make you run, stop, think, feel, listen, hide and take measures. This is essential to avoid or escape dangerous and even life-threatening situations. But when fear controls your life in everything you do and withholds you from trying to explore new things, then, sooner or later, you have to recognize and face your fears."

(Wilma van Dartel, The Law of Brand Attraction)

Sometimes the only way to overcome a fear is to face it head on. However, this can be daunting and even frightening at first. On the other hand, if you take step by step small steps in the beginning, you'll start to see, hear, feel and recognize your small successes, chances are you will go on to bigger and better things. You'll dare to go on.

Overcoming fear is one way to face your weaknesses to find or regain your strength.

Becoming aware and acknowledging your fears, making peace with them to prevent them from growing is the first and a very Conscious Courageous step. That may differ depending on what fear, how deep and how high the blockades are that keep you from growing and exploring new things, both in your personal life and in your business.

Take Inventory

If you have areas, like we all do, that you would like to improve upon, then you should definitely take inventory of where you feel you are lacking and what your strengths are, as well.

For example, if you are weak in networking and social gatherings, you may want read about it, look at some videos, take a class or attend a seminar on the subject.

You do not need to spend countless hours on therapy in order to identify your weaknesses. You just need to look within and find the answers that you know are already there.

Once you have identified your weaker areas, now it is time to take action.

Take Action

Another great way to face your weaknesses to find your strength is to take action. Taking action means that you take those areas that you have identified and taken action in each one of them. Now, you don’t have to take action in all areas at the same time as that may be too much at once.

Start with one small area and when you have finished working on that area, move on to another area. Let’s say for example, you are entrepeneur... And Yes, you know that it is important to be visible to your target audience. But that scares the hell out of you and you lack the confidence you need. Then you can start by reading books, attending a masterclass, being guided by an professional expert in self-confidence and what it is to become and be visible. You will see that you will begin to feel more empowered right away.

(to be continued under the image)

I myself have done it in that way too. Due to a reorganization at work my department and my job were cancelled. After a few months I discovered with what I distinguish myself: I have a congenital face disorder, and yet I regularly stand on stage. A rare combination, unless you know 10 people with the same looks that do that too. Many people are unsure about themselves and I realized that I can help them with my experiences. Because we all go through the same challenges, which were extra challenging for me because of my different face. At the same time, I realized that I had to overcome my fears that I have been carrying on for decades. I took a deepdive, read many books, followed certified courses and trainings, and had guided me professionally, both personal and in business . Which keeps on going, in order to continue to grow.

After all, knowledge is power and when you take action you give yourself the ability to transform your vulnerability by enhancing your power.

Because at the time I was regularly to be found on stage as an amateur singer/comedian or presenter. Since 2015 I am increasingly on stage as a speaker, emcee, professional presenter or enterTrainer. If you had predicted this to me some 10 years ago, I would have called you an idiot. But I have experienced that more is possible than you could have ever imagined or perhaps even dared to suspect.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

Take an Inside Out View

Sometimes your strongest suits are the ones where your weakest areas live. For example, if you always disliked the fact that you were quiet, shy, and withdrawn, perhaps you have a creative side that simply needs an outlet.

If you look at your weak sides and find a way to turn them inside out and turn them into your strong suits, you will find success was there all along. For you as a woman, partner, mother, child, sister, friend, collegue, entrepeneur and so on.

My wish for you is that you transform your vulnerability into strength. So that you too will experience that there is more for you than you have so far suspected and you become your shining you. Then you make THE difference in your own way where you need it. In that way we united create a better world. I would love to support you on that journey .
